My first Foo Fighters album! The album that started this obsession.
I used to love spending my weekends as a kid going to HMV and pondering all the latest releases.
It’s so much different today unless you still buy physical media. But if you get a chance to still purchase new releases instore, good for you! Specially if you’re using independent stores.
I had to visit your profile to realize that you are not THE Tom Grant. 😅 To your comment, I have the entire Foo catalog on LP/Vinyl and still buy physical media! It’s the only way to really feel connected to it (for myself personally)
I’ll always try and make a conscious effort with my favourite artists. Even if I’m able to stream everything on Apple Music. Just something about the tactile feel you get from physical media.
The Tom Grant I was thinking of is the retired LA County Sheriff and Private Investigator who had taken on the Kurt Cobain case. I’ll leave it at that so I don’t turn up too much soil on that topic here!
These #FF30 Substack posts are brilliant! Just caught up with the previous ones and looking forward to more posts…along with another 30 years (but, actually: 30 YEARS already!!!) From the beginning - Phoenix Festival in ‘96, VIP for Millennium Stadium support slot in 2005, VIP experience tickets at Milton Keynes when 6 months pregnant with my son in 2011, this time last year in Cardiff and so many more memories of music, magazine articles, videos, merchandise and so much more! Thanks Foo Fighters!
Best of You live jam is one of my fav moments in a Foo show, to me it’s such a beautiful piece of music that I go all gooey! Also love watching Dave be so in the moment!
The was the record where it seems like they finally felt like they could write their own ticket. If "One By One" was their "2112" where they left it all on the field and cemented their place in the music industry as an act with a reliable fan base (and prove that the Grammy for TINLTL wasn't a fluke), this was their "A Farewell to Kings," where they felt like they had earned the freedom to really experiment musically and "explore the studio space." 😉
A classic album. Many iconic songs. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't listen to acoustic side for years... I just thought, "oh, that's boring". I was 20 and wanted rock'n'roll. I don't remember when I started to listen, but made me feel stupid not appreciating such a gem. I absolutely love this whole album now. Best of You was the song I used in my graduation!
Cold Day in the Sun is one of my favorite Foos tracks. RIP Taylor.

Who’s THE Tom Grant btw aha?
I feel the same way!

Oh my days I know exactly what you’re talking about! That rings a bell from a documentary I watched a long time ago.
I wish I was retired. Got years left yet aha
Yeah he has a very thorough book about the case as well that I recommend!
Ha! I’ll die before I retire. I think most Millennials have come to terms with that at this point 😅
I’ll look into that one! Thanks
MORE 24 Hours of FOO? Yes please!
I would die tonight…unless you ANNOUNCE A TOUR
That Roswell show!! Seems like it needs a revisit!

This album is their "Sgt. Peppers"
The rock beat of "No way back" to the acoustic sound of "Resolve."
This is my favorite album.
🤘
Best title track, the scream gets me every time.
I have lyrics from The Best of You tattooed on my forearm. “I swear I’ll never give in. I refuse. “ I need the reminder these days.
