My husband died suddenly from a cardiac arrest in April, aged 40, leaving me a widow at 38 and our son (age 5) and daughter (age 2) without a daddy - I chose βHomeβ for the main funeral song, it gets me everytime, how I wish he was still home with us. I also picked times like these and my hero as well. A true foos fan, miss you every day my love π
Even if they arenβt gearing up for anything in particular. Itβs great to see this timeline of memories from all the different releases down the years.
Makes you think what you were doing at the time and how you felt when that music reached you.
Really enjoying the people and the content of this platform.
I can totally see where youβre coming from! I think for me, I grew up on some of Fooβs influences like Queen. So it was so good to find out how much of an influence they were on Dave and Taylor.
That's my favorite album. I love It that they played Stattues live and hope to hear others like Summer's End, Stranger Things Have Happened, Come Alive its so powerfull!!
β€οΈ this album so much, so many Footastic songs on it.
I got to hear Let it Die at my first show! I was very new to Foos (Mel 18), it was my husband who wanted to go so Iβd been listening to C&G and the hits as homework!
Then they played this song, starting off quiet and pretty and then boom, huge build up and that scream at the end! I was totally blown away by it and went home and played it on loop!
I discovered it at the local record store shortly after it came out, The Pretender rang in my ears and that's how I got crazy about Foo Fighters forever.
A few months later, I saw the band for the first timeΒ β I'll never forget the show in Perth on 21st April 2008, emotional and powerful.
Soβ¦ Thank you guys for the music, the good times, the joy and light that you bring into my life day after day β¨

Good for you Substack
I was just thinking about how this specific Substack is a time capsule for my life. The Foos have always been there in some capacity. I was born in 88 and grew up on the βgrungeβ era. Melvins, Green River, MudHoney, Sonic Youth etc β¦but I canβt remember a time the Foos werenβt playing in my home growing up. Each album marks a milestone in my life π₯Ίπ€π©΅

Hands down my favorite.

Iβve always loved this album. Unique in its balance of loud / quiet & Statues and Home will always be favourites of mine

Then after that song and the show, confirmed fan!
The Pretender - best song ever! We need many more like this, a bit of light and shade.
"Home" in the Shaun the Sheep movie. π
That is all.
Respect βπΎπ§π·
This band has been so important to so many people over the years. The Echoes /Wembley era is one of my favorites.
This is the album I keep coming back to over and over. Every song just connects with me in so many ways.
Huge. Great album, great memories.

Love this one so much. β€οΈ
Took my son to his 1st ever gig on the Friday at Wembley. The first of many Foo gigs together.
